Vážení,
jménem fanoušků motoristického sportu a především příznivců značky Škoda a s odkazem na stoletou historii sportovních úspěchů, se kterou se může pyšnit málokterá světová automobilka, se na Vás obracíme tímto otevřeným dopisem. Od dob nasazení modelu „Škoda Popular Monte Carlo“ do stejnojmenné soutěže v roce 1936 nebyla značka Škoda tak blízko k úspěchům v absolutně nejvyšší kategorii automobilových soutěží, jako tomu může být v roce 2005 se soutěžním speciálem Škoda Fabia WRC05.

Na vývoji vozu specifikace WRC od dob první evoluce vozu Škoda Octavia tým Škoda Motorsport udělal mnoho velmi kvalitní práce. Jsme hrdí na to, že automobilka Škoda soupeří se světovými značkami a jsme i náležitě pyšní na jediný tovární tým ze střední a východní Evropy v seriálu WRC. Přesto nemůžeme a nebudeme skrývat zklamání nad dosud dosahovanými výsledky, které v žádném případě neodpovídají technickým možnostem vozu a ani výše zmiňované sportovní tradici.
Věřte, že i v této nelichotivé situaci plně podporujeme tým Škoda Motorsport i společnost Škoda Auto a.s., a tímto otevřeným dopisem si dovolujeme naši podporu veřejně vyjádřit.

Je nám známo, že Škoda Auto je soukromou společností a řízení i rozhodování náleží akcionářům. Přesto věříme, že náš názor vyjádřený tímto dopisem přijmete jako projev zájmu a současně i podpory nejen fanoušků, ale ve velké části i majitelů vozů Škoda, kteří mají k motorismu hlubší vztah.

S velkou nadějí jsme vítali jmenování Martina Mühlmeiera na post vedoucího týmu Škoda Motorsport a velkým optimismem nás naplňovaly tiskové zprávy o pomoci automobilky Audi především ve vývoji motoru pro vůz Škoda Fabia WRC. Bohužel dosažené výsledky zůstaly výrazně za naším očekáváním. Stále však věříme, že přijmete taková opatření, aby tým Škoda Motorsport mohl ještě v sezóně 2005 dosáhnout výsledků, které tým posunou ve světové konkurenci na úroveň důstojnou značky Škoda a koncernu VW. S kvalitními, dostatečně motivovanými piloty v barvách Škoda Motorsport a se správným vedením samotného továrního týmu lze r ovnocenně bojovat se světovou špičkou i s menším rozpočtem oproti konkurenci, bude–li moudře a hospodárně využíván.

Stále pevně věříme, že koncern VW a společnost Škoda Auto z boje o světové vavříny v seriálu WRC zbaběle neutečou, ale naopak se urychleně zasadí o skutečné změny, které povedou k vysněným úspěchům. A následně budeme mít možnost se společně radovat z dosažených úspěchů značky Škoda. Neučinit tyto zásadní změny by bylo neodpustitelnou chybou, vždyť například Rallye Monte Carlo 2006 by mělo být důstojnou oslavou 70. výročí od úspěšného startu posádky Pohl – Hausmann s vozem „Škoda Popular Monte Carlo“.

Závěrem si Vás dovolujeme požádat o veřejné odpovědi na níže položené otázky.
1. Co vedlo k podepsání dvouleté smlouvy s Arminem Schwarzem, který prokazatelně po jezdecké stránce již na světovou špičku nestačí?

2. Proč nebyl pro sezónu 2005 týmem Škoda Motorsport angažován pilot z absolutní světové špičky?

3. Je působení Martina Mühlmeiera ve funkci vedoucího týmu Škoda Motorsport dostatečně dlouhé na to, aby tým pod jeho vedením mohl dosáhnout zlepšených výsledků?

4. Jakých výsledků pod vedením Martina Mühlmeiera tým Škoda Motorsport dosáhl?

5. Přinesl vývoj motorů pro vůz Škoda Fabia WRC v automobilce Audi očekávané výsledky v soutěžích WRC?

6. Uvažujete o odstoupení týmu Škoda Motorsport ze šampionátu WRC v průběhu sezóny 2005?

7. Jaké výkonnostní cíle musí splnit tým Škoda Motorsport, aby mohl pokračovat v kompletním seriálu WRC v sezóně 2006?

Dear Sirs,
On behalf of the Czech motor sport fans and especially of the Skoda trade mark fans and with reference to a hundred year history of sport successes that not many car factories can boast of, we would like to address you with this letter. Since 1936 when “Skoda Popular Monte Carlo” was deployed in the race of the same name the Skoda brand has never been so close to the success in the absolutely highest category of the motor races as it could be in 2005 with a racing special Skoda Fabia WRC05.

A lot of good work has been done on the development of the WRC car specification by the Skoda Motorsport team since the first evolution of the Skoda Octavia car. We take pride in the fact that the Skoda Car company can compete with the world trade marks and we are also very proud that it is the only factory team from the Middle and Eastern Europe in the WCR series. In spite of that we cannot and will not hide our disappointment that the results in no way correspond to the technical possibilities of the car and to the above mentioned sport tradition. Please believe us that although the situation is not very flattering we would like to express our full support to the Skoda Motorsport team and to the Skoda Auto a.s. company through this open letter.

We are aware of the fact that Skoda Auto is a private company and management and making decisions belongs only to the shareholders. However we believe that our opinion expressed in this letter could be accepted as an effort of a sincere interest and support from not only fans but also from many of the Skoda car owners, who are deeply related to the motor sport.

With great expectations we welcomed Martin Műhlmeier’s appointment to the post of the Skoda Motorsport team leader and with big optimism we received press news about the Audi car factory help mainly in the development of the motor for the Skoda Fabia WRC car. Unfortunately the reached results remained far beyond our expectations. We still believe that you will take the necessary steps so that the Skoda Motorsport team could reach the required results still in 2005, which would move the trade mark forward amongst the world competitors to a position dignified for the Skoda brand and VW concern. With good quality and highly motivated pilots in Skoda Motosport colours and with the right management of the facotry team itself it is possible to cope with the world elite even if the budget is lower then the competitor’s provided that it is used efficiently.
We still firmly believe that the VW concern and Skoda Auto company will not spinelessly leave the fight for the world laurels, but on the contrary they will smartly take all the necessary steps that would lead us to the dream success. Then we would have a possibility to enjoy the Skoda success together.

It would be an unforgivable fault not to make these radical changes, as for example Rallye Monte Carlo 2006 could be a dignified celebration of the 70th anniversary of the successful start of the Pohl-Hausmann crew with a “Skoda Popular Monte Carlo” car.

At the end of this letter we would be very grateful if you could answer openly the below given questions.
1. What were the reasons to sign a two year contract with Armin Schwarz, who is demonstrably not able to compete as a driver with the world elite anymore?

2. Why the Skoda Motorsport team has not hired a pilot from the absolute world elite for the season of 2005?

3. Is Martin Műhlmeier’s performance in the position of the Skoda Motorsport team leader long enough to show improved results under his leadership?

4. What have been the results reached by the Skoda Motorsport team under the leadership of Martin Műhlmeier?

5. Has the development of the motors for Skoda Fabia WRC in the Audi car factory brought desirable results in the WRC contests?

6. Have you considered that the Skoda Motorsport team would leave the WRC championship during the season of 2005?

7. What standards of performance must be fulfilled by the Skoda Motorsport team so that it could go on in the complete WRC series in the season of 2006?

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
in Name der Fans der Motorsport und vor allem Fans von Škoda schreiben wir Ihnen den folgenden Brief, wir weisen auf die Erfolge von Škoda hin, auf die nur wenige andere Automarken so stolz sein können. Noch nie in der Geschichte war Škoda so in der Nähe zu Erfolgen in der Weltspitze des Rallyesports, wie das in dem Jahr 2005 dank dem Modell Škoda Fabia WRC05 möglich ist.

Mit der Entwicklung des Models WRC war sehr viel Arbeit verbunden und war auch sehr viel guter Arbeit geleistet. Wir sind sehr stolz darauf, dass Škoda in der Lage ist, an der Rallyeweltmeisterschaft teilzunehmen, und wir sind gleichzeitig auch darauf stolz, dass es sich um das einzige Team aus der Mittel- und Osteuropa handelt der an der Weltmeisterschaft teilnimmt.

Trotzdem müssen wir konstatieren, dass die Ergebnisse leider die Erwartungen enttäuscht haben. Diese entsprechen im keinen Fall den technischen Möglichkeiten des Modells. Und auch nicht die schon früher genannte sportliche Tradition.

Glauben Sie uns bitte, dass wir auch in dieser nicht fröhlichen Situation hinter dem Škoda Team stehen und dieser Brief dient dazu, unsere Unterstützung öffentlich zu präsentieren. Es ist uns bekannt, dass Škoda-auto eine private Gesellschaft ist und dass alle Entscheidungen von Aktionären abhängig sind. Trotzdem glauben wir, dass unsere Meinung, die wir in diesem Brief formuliert haben, von Ihnen akzeptiert wurde und dass Sie diesen Brief auch als Zeichen unserer Interesse interpretieren werden. Wir sind nicht nur Fans von Škoda, sondern die meisten von uns sich für Motorsport allgemein interessieren.

Grosse Hoffnung war für uns die Nennung von Herr Martin Mühlmeier zu Chef der Škoda Motorsport Team und auch die positiven Informationen in Medien, die über die Hilfe der Marke Audi informierten. Und das vor allem bei Entwicklung des neues Motors für Škoda Fabia WRC. Die Ergebnisse sind leider weit hinter unseren Erwartungen geblieben. Wir glauben weiterhin, dass Sie solche Maßnahmen annehmen, dass der Škoda Motorsport Team noch in der Saison 2005 zur Weltspitze gehören wird. Das ist dann möglich, wenn in diesem Team gut motivierte Piloten sein werden und wenn das Team unter guter Führung sein wird.

Wir glauben weiterhin, dass der Konzern WV und die Gesellschaft Škoda-auto versucht, sich in der Weltspitze durchzusetzen. Dazu sind aber die bedeutungsvollen Änderungen nötig, die zu von uns erwarteten Erfolgen führen werden. Und danach können wir uns gemeinsam über diesen Erfolgen freuen. Diese Änderungen nicht zu machen, wird unsere Meinung nach ein großer Fehler, da in nächstem Jahr es genau 70. Jahre von der ersten Teilnahme der Marke Škoda in Rallye Monte Carlo sein werden.

Zum Abschluss bitten wir Sie um folgende Fragen zu beantworten:

1. Warum haben Sie einen zweijährigen Kontrakt mit Armin Schwarz unterschreiben, der unserer Meinung nach nicht mehr zur Weltspitze gehört?

2. Warum haben Sie nicht für die Saison 2005 einen Pilot aus der Weltspitze angagiert?

3. Sind Sie davon überzeugt, dass der Herr Martin Mühlmeier genug lang in der Funktion ist, um in der Lage zu sein, das Team zu besseren Ergebnissen zu führen?

4. Welche positive Ergebnisse hat das Team unter Führung von Martin Mühlmeier erreicht?

5. Brachte die Entwicklung von neuen Motoren für Škoda Fabia WRC die erwartete Ergebnisse in Wettkämpfen?

6. Überlegen Sie über die Möglichkeit, Škoda Motorsport Team aus der Weltmeisterschaft 2005 abzumelden?

7. Welche sportliche Ergebnisse müssen erreicht werden, damit Škoda Motorsport Team auch in der Saison 2006 teilnehmen kann?
