Free entry (and more) for lady drivers at the Croatia Rally

The organizers of Croatia Rally have decided to offer female crews free hotel accommodation and entry to their race.

They are not many, but in most cases really good. So good that some of them have their name written in block capitals in the history of motor sport: such as Pat Moss and Michelle Mouton in rally, Lella Lombardi, Maria Teresa De Filippis, Divina Galica in F1, Sarah Fisher and Danica Patrick on American tracks, and so on.

Yet for women it is increasingly hard to even take part in motor racing, a world that, like many others, is more male-oriented despite accident figures saying that women are on average better drivers. The organizers of Croatia Rally, to pay a tribute to women drivers, have decided to offer female crews free hotel accommodation and entry to their race – valid for the 2011 FIA European Rally Championship, and for which the entries will close on May 5th – in the hope to set a precedent and to contribute to the revival of female presences and of the dedicated international titles.

For this it is the intention of the organizers of the Croatia Rally not to limit their commitment to the free entry to their event, but they are already studying other initiatives to promote the presence of female drivers in rallyes in general.
