Piero Longhi 2011 Slovenian Rally Champion

In the last event of the 2011 season, the Rally Idrija, Piero Longhi has won the 2011 Slovenian Rally Championship.

In the last event of the 2011 season, the Rally Idrija, Piero Longhi has won the 2011 Slovenian Rally Championship, with the Skoda Fabia S2000 of the Skoda Rally Team Slovenia. With his codrivers, Lucio Baggio and Luigi Pirollo, Longhi had already conquered the title before the start as the only other driver in contention, Rok Turk, had chosen not to take part in the last event to concentrate on the European Championship and take part in the Rally d'Antibes. But Longhi wanted to honour his winning season until the end, taking part in the last race where he obtained the overall victory.

A very satisfied Longhi said after the finish: “I am very happy. This is a season to be remembered, This success is much welcome after all the bad luck we had in Italy. I would like to thank Alen Vuk, Team Principal of the Skoda Rally Team Slovenia – Target Team, for giving me this opportunity, Sergio Terrini and Stefania Giacomini of Twister Corse who allowed me to contest the Slovenian championship. I also do not forget Pier Liberali and United Business, who take care of my sporting management. Winning always has a special taste, to do it abroad, in a prestigious national championship and against a strong opposition, feels great”.

The final part of Piero Longhi's season will probably see him tackle the Monza Rally Show, an event which he has always cherished. In the past weeks, the driver from Borgomanero took part on the same track in a race with a Formula Renault 2000.
