Hayden Paddon: Rally France comes to an unfortunate end
I should be writing to inform you that we completed what we started earlier in the rally, by cruising through today to take maximum points. Unfortunately, the smallest of driving errors has put paid to that and our championship hopes.
I am incredibly disappointed with myself and so sorry for everyone that I have let down. We were taking it really easy all day in the tricky muddy conditions and taking absolutely no risks. It was the smallest of mistakes, running slightly wide on a muddy tight right hand corner (1st gear) and the rear wheel slightly touching the grass. This then sucked the car into the ditch where we were stuck. There we still 2 wheels of the car on the road, but we just could not get the car out (you can see the in-car video of this on our facebook page).
Im a little lost for words right now, in a year that has never really got going like we would have liked. A huge thanks for all the support that we have had and to our BRR team who have all done a great job. This is the first mistake that I have made like this in the past 3 years – and it come at the completely wrong time.
Again I am sorry to everyone. As always there are lessons to be learned and I hope that we will come back faster and stronger.
