Hayden Paddon: Win at Rally Otago

Well we have capped off a good weekend here in Otago, winning the rally by over 4 minutes from Richard Mason, and winning 13 of the 16 stages.

Well we have capped off a good weekend here in Otago, winning the rally by over 4 minutes from Richard Mason, and winning 13 of the 16 stages. This included 6 stage records, which gave us a great comparison to our old Group N stage records. This was also our 10thconsecutive outright victory in a NZRC round/rally since Rally Otago 2009.

It is great to be winning again after a difficult past 12 months and hopefully this gives us the momentum to keep moving forward. This result is also a huge credit to our team who have done an amazing job prior and during the event with what is a very different car.

We didn’t have a plain sailing weekend, with several turbo boost problems over the course of the weekend. But straight out of the box after an extensive rebuild we couldn’t ask for anymore from the car. It is also encouraging that we know there is a lot more speed that we can extract from the car with some further development, so things can only get better.

Was great to be driving again and both John and I really enjoyed it. You can see some of our in-car videos on our facebook page www.facebook.com/haydenpaddonwrc to check out just how much fun we had.

A huge thanks to everyone that made this weekend possible. Our team did an amazing job including Dad, John, Math, Neil, AD, Coxy, Mike and Katie. A huge thanks also to all our partners including PlaceMakers, Stadium Cars, Z Energy, Saddle Hill Quarries and Dunlop. Unfortunately Tony from Stadium Cars was unable to compete this weekend after illness, which is unfortunate after the amount of support he provides to this event, our team and other teams. Our team wishes Tony a speedy recovery. Finally thanks to Andrew Simms who got us out of a hole prior to the event and to Matt Jansen for helping with some running repairs that we required during the event.

Now can not wait until Whangarei in 6 weeks time. We have a lot of work to do in the meantime but I can ensure you we will be going even faster when we get on my favourite roads. Thanks for all your support
