Rallye International du Valais: the entry period is open

The supplementary regulations of the 55th Rallye International du Valais will be available from Friday 22 September.

The supplementary regulations of the 55th Rallye International du Valais, the 10th and last but one round of the 2014 FIA European Rally Championship, will be available from Friday 22 September, when the entry period will be open. All the necessary documents will be posted on the official event's website: http://riv.ch. The drivers and teams interested can obtain an ID and password to access the private area of the drivers' section.

The mainly asphalt rally will take place from 22-25 October and, in addition to the European Championship, will count towards the Swiss Rally Championship, the Swiss Rally Cup, the Swiss Junior Rally Championship, the Citroën Racing Trophy DS3 R3T and DS3 R1 and the Renault Twingo R1 Swiss Trophy. Of course, amateur drivers are welcome too.

This year, a national class will allow seeing in action cars that are not allowed to take part in the European Championship, such as WRC, Group A and Group N cars – in compliance with the FIA regulations – as well as the cars that do not appear anymore in the homologation lists of the FIA and are in compliance with national regulations (ISA/ISN/FA/FN). Those cars will take on part of the main event's route and will tackle 140 km of special stages.

Since the creation of the Rallye International du Valais, its route has evolved while keeping its traditional characteristics. As usual, the 55th edition will feature both classic stages and a few innovations that will spice the itinerary around Sion, from where the rally will start, and Martigny, where it will finish. During three busy days, the competitors will face the roads of Valais, which seem to have been tailor-made for the exercise of the discipline. There will be 19 special stages for a total timed distance of 260 km.

On Thursday afternoon, the first day of racing will feature three special stages, including a brand new one in Upper Valais. The leg will draw to an end with the service halt in Sion.

On Friday, there will be four stages, all repeated twice. Between the two loops, there will be a regroup and a service halt in Sion. The iconic special stage in form of loops of Caserne will also take place in the canton's capital and will be repeated twice, one at the end of each loop. In the afternoon, the teams' outfit will move to the service park of Martigny.

On Saturday, the last day of competition will feature another two loops of four stages in the area of Pays du Saint-Bernard and Verbier/Val de Bagnes, with a service halt in Martigny in between. While three of these tests are identical for the two passes, the rally will draw to its conclusion with the 'Col des Planches', a shorter version of the renowned stage 'Les Cols'.

At 5:00pm on Saturday 25 October, the winner of the 55th Rallye International du Valais will climb on the rostrum set up in the enclosure of the CERM in Martigny for the unchanging finish ceremony, followed by the final press conference, the ritual prize giving and the not to be missed big night party.
