Happy to have achieved our best WRC finish here this weekend – finishing 6th at Rally Australia after a hard fought battle and as the leading Hyundai driver which was an added bonus.

The 100% finishing ratio of all the WRC cars this weekend made it more difficult to climb the leaderboard than normal but we are happy that we were mixing it amongst the top 6 for the whole rally. Not only have we closed the gap again to the leaders this weekend and continued our progression, but also doing it consistently on every stage is a good step forward.

Throughout the course of the weekend we had no major problems – with the worse of our issues being a wrong tyre choice on Saturday afternoon which cost us 10-12 seconds while in a crucial battle with Mads Ostberg. It was a very enjoyable battle with Mads, and over the 3 days there was never more than 8 seconds separating us. Unfortunately, Mads had a suspension problem on the last stages, but until then it was a very enjoyable fight where even trying to gain a tenth of a second was hard work.

The Kiwi support we had here was absolutely amazing and made the whole weekend a memorable experience. Every spectator point, service and stop line was full of Kiwi's and NZ flags and the rally world certainly knew that we were in town. A huge thank you to everyone that made the trip here to support us, but also for everyone that supported us from afar.

Also a huge thanks to our team of people that put together and ran our tours including Katie, Dad, Jackie, Eve, Jessica, Racing Ray, Richard, Adam, Lyndon, Malcolm and all the local Coffs Harbour suppliers who supported us.

Our next event is Rally Spain in about 6 weeks. Still plenty of work to do and improve on, so we must continue working hard and analysis this weekend to become faster for the future.
