The Finnish WRC round is almost like a home event for Ole Christian Veiby. Rally Finland is his fifth rally on Finnish soil this year – and his goal is to fight for victory.

"I feel at home in Finland. I have done a bunch of events here and really enjoyed it. In addition to that, Printsport, that runs my car, is a Finnish team and of course they wish for me to do well on their home turf" said Ole Christian Veiby.

The 20-year-old and his co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen aims for the top spot in the Junior World Rally Championship this year, but have had a somewhat troublesome start to their season. They started off with a fifth place in Portugal and finished third in Poland.

"We have been a bit unlucky in the first two JWRC rounds this season. We have been victims of technical issues, which obviously is sad. But this is a part of the game in rallying. The positive thing is that we have proven that we have the speed that is needed to succeed in achieving our goal of becoming junior world rally champions. In Portugal, we had a pace that could have given us the victory, while in Poland, Italian Simone Tempestini was too quick for us. But we could have finished second if we had not gotten issues with the car" said Ole.

Although the start of the season has not gone according to plan, the youngster remains calm and believes that they can fight for the win in Finland.

"We will fight for victory and I will be disappointed if we do not win, because I know that it is possible. But the most important thing is that we catch up on Tempestini in the overall classification. There is still much left of the season and I am in no way stressed out about it. Our main goal is to do the best job we can possibly do in each rally" he said.

After the first two rounds of the JWRC, Ole is in third place in the overall standings. He has only 25 points up to Tempestini, while the Frenchman Terry Folb is eight points ahead of him.

"Nothing would taste sweeter than to start our comeback in Finland. The Finnish roads are one of a kind, but like I said, I feel at home here. Rally Finland is called the Formula 1 of rallying. The roads are extremely fast and you need experience to be quick with all the corners, crests and jumps. When you approach a crest and cannot see the road after it, you need to have accurate pacenotes and be able to trust them. This year I have done three rallies in the Finnish championship, plus an event as a test ahead of this weekend's JWRC round. I feel confident in these conditions and we are very well prepared. But it will definitely not be an easy event" said Ole.
